Please refer to “SVGMS Field Trips News” document you received from the club secretary on 5/14/2017 for a description of the current status of field trips and details about upcoming trips.
If you are a club member with paid-up dues and you did not receive the “Field Trip News” document, please contact the secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org or at a monthly meeting to correct this issue.

This will be the principle way information about field trips are distributed to members, so we want to insure everyone is correctly addressed.

Field Trips - 2017
June 17, 2017 - Vulcan Quarry - Stafford, VA
The Northern VA Mineral Club has invited the SVGMS members to attend a joint club field trip to the Vulcan Quarry in Stafford VA.
This is a Regionally Hosted - Commercial Mining Field Trip
Minimum Age Requirement is 16 or older.
Safety Mining Gear is required, - see SVGMS field Trips, History, and Classification for Details. At a minimum; Hard Hat, Safety Boots, Protective Clothing, Gloves, Eye Protection
GPS Address; 100 Vulcan Quarry Rd. Stafford, VA 22556
Note: it takes approx. 2 hrs 15 minutes from Waynesboro to the Stafford Quarry. Allow enough time.
Time: 7:30 am at the Quarry for sig-in and Safety Briefing (required)
Collecting: 8:00am to Noon
Each participant must sign an Assumption of Risks waiver (attached) to enter the quarry to collect. This will be collected at the Safety Review prior to entering the quarry.

Our invitation requires me to confirm the number of SVGMS members who intent to go on this Field Trip. PLEASE, send me an email (email@example.com Memo: Vulcan Trip) to confirm your name on the list of participants. Final cut off is June 6.
lf for some reason the trip is canceled, l will notify everyone through email as quickly as I am informed.
Commercial Mining Field Trip opportunities are becoming more and more infrequent, due to legal and liability concerns. Take advantage of this invitation.

WEATHER: Weather plays an important factor in all field trips. If the weather creates an increase in hazardous conditions of any field trip, the trip will be canceled due to safety concerns.
